To find out more about becoming a member of the BDA click here The 21st International Congress on Education of the Deaf (ICED) was held on July 19th in Vancouver, Canada. At the opening ceremony a clear statement of principle was made in which ICED expressed regret about the outcomes of the infamous 2nd congress held in Milan in 1880.

Try your hand at a new language in national campaign to learn British Sign Language. This year’s Learn to Sign Week campaign, run by the British Deaf Association (BDA), takes place 4th – 10th October 2010 and is hoping to encourage even more school children to learn British Sign Language (BSL), thanks to the development of an exclusive DVD.

The British Deaf Association (BDA) welcomes the latest results from the GP Patient Survey, which confirms that there are just over 100,000 adult Deaf British Sign Language (BSL) users in England.

Following many months of discussion, at their meeting in the Scottish Parliament in December 2009, the Cross Party Group on Deafness approved a consultation paper on MSP Cathie Craigie’s proposed BSL Bill, which was launched last week.
