Sign Community - British Deaf Associaton

Free Weekend for Deaf BSL Teachers - BSL Futures invites Deaf BSL teachers in Wales to learn and share skills in teaching British Sign Language. 12-15 June 2008

Deaf Association Wales has a number of two-hour taster sessions available (at the BSL Cultural Centre, Newport Road, Cardiff)

These two-hour sessions teach participants how to carry out a basic conversation in BSL. This includes exchanging details such as your name, where you live, where you work, your job, how you get to work (transport) and other information. (Click here for more details)

Introduction to BSL Intensive 5 week course (At the BSL Cultural Centre, Newport Road, Cardiff.)

This 20-hour course is usually taught over 10 weeks although we are currently running an intensive course which condenses 20 hours into 5 weeks. The introduction course offers learners the opportunity to learn some useful everyday BSL. Learners will have the chance to have their skills assessed and receive certificates. Deaf Equality Training (At the BSL Cultural Centre, Newport Road, Cardiff.)

By now we’re all aware of The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Public bodies, private and voluntary service providers, and businesses now have new statutory duties to promote disability equality. Have you considered your obligations toward your Deaf customers? We can help. (Click here for more details)
