As part of the Combined Universities in Cornwall initiative University College Falmouth and the University of Exeter share a multi-million pound campus at Tremough near Falmouth. Supporting this campus is a company called Tremough Campus Services, providing support services to the Tremough Campus.

Deaf Awareness Adviser - Interpreter
38 hours per week, 34 weeks per year (Term-time only)

£14,239 per annum (pro rata to SP8 £19,176) - Pay Award Pending

You will be required to work with hearing-impaired students, supporting them to overcome practical barriers to learning, providing BSL interpretation where required. You will help to create a culture which fosters deaf awareness among staff and students through the provision of short training courses and consultation.

You will have a minimum of CACDP Level 3 in British Sign Language (BSL) and proven ability in BSL signing, as well as previous experience of promoting deaf awareness, communication support, working with deaf people and knowledge of the barriers confronting people with hearing impairments.

Excellent verbal, written and BSL communication skills and confident presentation skills are essential to this post, as is the ability to exercise absolute confidentiality. IT literacy and the capacity to work flexibly to incorporate the diverse needs of staff and students is also essential.

The remuneration package includes membership of Cornwall's Local Government final salary pension scheme. Subsidised transport is available.
