Staff Development Opportunity

Enable Your Organisation To Project A Positive Attitude Towards
Your Deaf Customers & Staff.

By now we're all aware of The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA). Public bodies, private and voluntary service providers, and businesses now have new statutory duties to promote disability equality.

Have you considered your obligations toward your Deaf Customers & Staff?
The SDA can help - we can offer both Deaf Equality Training and/or Frontline Staff Training

British Sign Language (BSL) for Frontline Staff

  • The frontline course is unique as it is specifically designed to introduce staff to British Sign Language relevant to their place of work.
  • Aimed at frontline staff who need to learn basic communication in BSL so they can better facilitate customers who are Deaf.
  • The BSL Teacher will introduce the frontline staff to basic BSL vocabulary signs that are tailored to meet your precise requirements. For example the everyday work signs you would require to converse with customers to better facilitate communication.
  • There is particular focus on dialogues and conversation skills relating to your mode of business.

Deaf Equality Training will:

  • Facilitate understanding of Deaf Culture.
  • Allow professionals to meet their obligations to provide equality in their services.
  • Know the two types of d/Deaf people.
  • Understand that Deaf BSL users don't have ‘needs'.
  • Learn about the Deaf Community & their language: British Sign Language (BSL)
  • Consider the background of Deaf people.
  • Recognise the three ways of looking at ‘Deaf' in different perspectives.
  • Identify unnecessary barriers to Deaf people.

Why not combine YOUR Deaf Equality Training with a specifically tailored BSL Taster to suit the needs of your Frontline Staff
