Social Worker - Sensory Loss

37 hours per week
Salary: £26,784 - £30,546pa
Job Ref No: 3030/TC/

In Somerset we are always looking at how we can ensure an excellent service for our customers as well as meeting performance targets. We are busy teams supporting frail older people and adults with physical disabilities. We work closely with colleagues in health, housing, and the voluntary/independent sector. As a Sensory Loss Social Worker you will need to have, or be willing to develop, skills and understanding of the needs of people who are profoundly deaf or with hearing impairment and have awareness of the services and equipment available to meet those needs. You will carry out assessments, negotiate care plans with service users and informal carers, put services in place, have on-going care management responsibility and carry out reviews.

You will need to have a flexible approach as you will be required to work across the Taunton/Wellington areas and attend County-wide meetings. There will be an opportunity to get involved in a broad range of cases and you will be expected to manage your own caseload. Excellent verbal and written skills are required together with the ability to keep accurate and timely records and be confident in using IT.

We are looking for someone who has a British Sign Language qualification at level one and who is willing to undertake further BSL training. We offer a full induction, opportunities for professional development and regular supervision. In due course you would have the opportunity to supervise 1-2 Adult Social Care Workers.
You will need to be registered with the General Social Care Council as an accredited Social Worker.
