Interview with the Jock Young Award Winner 2020
Erin McCluskey was nominated in the Deaf Role Model category for her work as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament. She’s worked incredibly hard in this role and has also produced numerous BSL videos encouraging young deaf people and the deaf community to engage in civic life.

Jock Young Award
Jock Young was born in Glasgow and educated at the Glasgow Institute for the Deaf in Langside. After leaving school, he was apprenticed to a shoe maker and repairer. After completing his apprenticeship he worked for the shoe repairing firm Napier’s before taking a job with Singer in Clydebank as a night shift supervisor then leaving for Rolls Royce in Hillington.
