About migraine
Migraine is a condition that can cause severe headaches and other symptoms. Attacks can last for hours or longer and can affect everyday activities.
Signs and symptoms
A migraine headache is often throbbing and may affect one side of the head. Other symptoms can include feeling or being sick and sensitivity to light or sound. Some people have an aura before or during an attack, such as changes in vision, tingling or difficulty speaking.
Getting help and treatment
Treatment can help manage migraine attacks and reduce how often they happen. Speak to a GP if migraines are severe, getting worse or happening frequently. Get urgent medical help for a sudden extremely severe headache or new stroke-like symptoms.
