DONATE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Every week, the BDA helps hundreds of Deaf people from across the UK to overcome the daily difficulties experienced as a result of their Deafness.
Making and attending a GP appointment, getting legal and welfare advice, learning at college, attending work interviews to get employment or even getting everyday information and incidental learning from the television and radio are but a few examples of the things that hearing people take for granted, but which for Deaf people represent common and often unsurmountable challenges without sign language access.
Faced with these challenges day in day out throughout their lives, these disadvantages leave many Deaf people highly marginalised, vulnerable to poor health, and lacking in the confidence and knowledge needed to negotiate life in a world where their needs for sign language access usually go unrecognised.
The BDA is entirely dependent on fundraised income to provide Deaf people with the same life opportunities as hearing people. We do this by promoting awareness of the importance of British Sign Language (BSL) to service providers, by providing essential and practical information in formats that Deaf people can understand, and by providing frontline advocacy and support services to overcome the huge disadvantages that most Deaf children and adults routinely face all stages of their lives.
With your support, we can make a very real difference to the lives of many more Deaf children and adults in need. No matter how large or small your contribution, it only takes a couple of minutes to make a donation, and to make a real difference in the life of a Deaf person. Thank you for your support.
