Audit of the Welsh Government

for the BSL Charter 2022

Publication of the Audit report of the Welsh Government for British Sign Language Charter

The BDA was invited to carry out an audit of British Sign Language (BSL) provision by the Welsh Government against the format of the BSL Charter. The Welsh Government recognised that there were shortfalls in BSL provision for Deaf people of Wales.

The BDA has analysed, scrutinised and mapped provision from discussions and engagements with Welsh Government staff and engagements with members of the Deaf community in Wales to collate a comprehensive report along with an executive summary of the full report in BSL for the Welsh Government with a series of recommendations for the Welsh Government to consider.

The comprehensive report can be found below or if you prefer you can watch the BSL executive summary which is delivered in 8 individual sections.  Alternatively, if you want to see the BSL executive summary in full this can be found on the BDA Facebook page. Please note, the full BSL executive summary is 32 minutes long.

If you have any questions regarding the audit report or would like to request a copy, please contact Robin Ash, Equality and Rights Manager, using the contact information below.
