From January 2017
The Governors are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual as a Communication Support Worker to provide communication and educational support to a deaf student, part-time, three full days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), to cover a maternity leave from January 2017. You need to have the ability to motivate and encourage them to develop and achieve in the school environment and will need to be responsive to the individual needs of the student and to also promote the inclusion of all students in the school. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to support the student using BSL (Level 6) or equivalent, SSE and signed and spoken English as appropriate. We positively encourage candidates who have been brought up using BSL.
ICT capability and the ability to work as a team and on your own initiative are also essential. Experience of supporting students in an educational or youth setting in English/Literacy or Numeracy would be an advantage. We welcome individuals applying on a job-share basis.
