Covering: The North of Scotland
Fees: £25 per hour
Contract: January 2017 – June 2017
Reporting to: Access & Inclusion (Engagement) Officer
The BDA has secured funding from the Scottish Government, in line with supporting the BSL (Scotland) Act developments. One post covering the North of Scotland is now vacant. The post is a zero hour contract. The post involves providing consultation meetings with Deaf BSL users in different regions across the North of Scotland.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- To set up and run information sessions and consultation meetings with BSL users
- To enable information to be shared with the Deaf community on consultation topics
- To collect BSL users’ information and views/feedback in line with BSL (Scotland) Act
- To work closely with the Access & Inclusion (Engagement) Officer
Personal Specifications:
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in BSL (minimum Level 3)
- Experience of facilitating and participating in groups
- Ability to engage with BSL users
- Availability and ability to attend training sessions
- Must have access to
internet , filming and camera - Some knowledge of current themes/topics affecting BSL users
- Able to work effectively in a team and to support others to develop skills
