BSL Futures invites Deaf BSL teachers in Wales to learn and share skills in teaching British Sign Language.....

The BDA's BSL seminar and AGM held in March at the Bristol Deaf Centre was well-attended and gave members the opportunity to find out and discuss more about the status of BSL in this country, how it compares to Wales and some European countries and the BSL Act in deaf education.....

On 18 March 2008, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the official recognition of British Sign Language, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Deafness arranged for BSL teachers from the British Deaf Association to give sign language training to 10 MPs. The training was a great success with all MPs attending enjoying learning some basic sign language to help them communicate better with their deaf constituents.

The announcement that Sign, the National Society for Mental Health and Deafness, is to commission the first ever study in the UK on the state of health of the Deaf community reflects a broadening of the charity’s objectives to improve the general health of Deaf people.
