As part of this year’s Féile an Phobail, organisers hosted last night’s popular political panel discussion in Belfast, chaired by BBC’s Noel Thompson.
The flagship event generally draws on a broad selection of local, national and international politics, but one of the hot topics amongst the panel last night was the BSL/ISL act and equal rights for the Deaf Community.
BDA NI’s Community Development Manager, Majella McAteer, attended last night’s event:
“I am so pleased about the provision of a sign language interpreter at last night’s panel discussion to ensure the Deaf community can be included in Féile an Phobail. It was also really encouraging to see the panellists being so supportive of the need for a sign language act. A massive thanks to the organisers for last night’s discussion, it was excellent.”
