Congratulations to The Silent Child for being awarded best short film (live action) at the 2018 Academy Awards!
The BDA congratulates Rachel Stenton, Chris Overton, Maisie Sly, and all involved in the film. We would like to thank them for bringing important deaf issues to a global stage, and hope the film will bring some serious attention to the value of having sign language within a deaf child's world and family.
This award win is very timely as we approach Sign Language Week, beginning next week, where we will be celebrating "Pride in Sign Language".
