The Education and Culture Committee passed Stage 2 of the BSL Scotland Bill, with amendments.
BDA Scotland warmly congratulates the Scottish Parliament’s Education and Culture Committee in passing Stage 2 BSL (Scotland) Bill with amendments this morning. This will go back to the Scottish Parliament for debate and vote on the final stage of the Bill, most likely to happen before summer recess.
David Buxton, BDA’s Director of Campaigns and Communications, praised the MSP’s saying: “The BDA applauds the Committee’s commitment to understanding the importance of British Sign Language to Deaf people, by seeking their views, visiting Deaf centres and looking to improve access to services in BSL across Scotland. BDA Scotland will continue to actively support the Scottish Parliament in passing the Bill, ensuring that public providers will implement BSL plans with support from local Deaf communities.”
