Text transcript for BSL video:
We are very pleased to announce that we have received some funding from NHS Nottingham City Clinical Commissioning Group CCG. They are responsible for funding Health Services in Nottingham. The funding is to set up a project to support the Deaf Community to work alongside the CCG, the commissioners to make sure that Health Services are accessible for Nottingham.
The project has 3 elements, firstly the BDA will provide Deaf Equality Training for the CCG staff and commissioners to make sure that they are aware of the needs of the Deaf Community and the access when delivering Health Services in the future. Secondly, the BDA will provide some workshops and training for local Deaf people so they can survey other local Deaf people on the quality of interpreter standards in Nottingham. Thirdly, the BDA will provide some training workshops for local Deaf people on how they present Health information in BSL for the CCG’s for their Facebook and websites, the information there becomes more accessible for the Deaf community as it is delivered in BSL.
The project aim is to support the local Deaf Community to work alongside the CCG and the commissioners to ensure that Health Services are more accessible in Nottingham City
The BDA are delighted to receive this funding which will enable us to continue our work in supporting the Deaf community to ensure they participate and contribute to making sure the Health Services are better provided for Deaf People in Nottingham.
