Fees: £25 per hour
Contract: October 2015 – March 2016
Reporting to: Access & Inclusion (Engagement) Officer – Glasgow
The BDA has secured funding from the Scottish Government, in line with supporting the BSL (Scotland) Bill developments, for three outreach workers. The posts are on zero hour contracts. The posts involve providing focus and consultation meetings with Deaf communities in different regions across Scotland. Outreach workers would be preferably able to cover the areas of Falkirk, Fife, Ayrshire and the South of Scotland.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- To set up and run information sessions and consultation meetings with BSL users
- To enable information to be shared with the Deaf community on consultation topics
- To collect BSL users’ information and views/feedbacks in line with BSL (Scotaland) Bill Developments
- To work closely with the Access & Inclusion (Engagement) Officer
Personal Specifications:
- Excellent communication skills, including fluency in BSL (minimum Level 3)
- Experience of facilitating and participating in groups
- Ability to enhance engagement with BSL users
- Availability to attend training sessions
- Must have access to internet, filming and camera
- Some knowledge of current themes/topics affecting BSL users
- Able to work effectively in a team and to support others to develop skills
