Belfast City Council has today become the first Northern Ireland council to sign up to the British/Irish Sign Language Charter, committing to promote better access to public services for Deaf communities.

Scam Workshop – BDA NI
BDA (NI) will be hosting workshops in Belfast, Omagh and Derry/Londonderry on the topic of scam prevention.
The workshops will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the latest scams, letters, emails and texts from scammers as well as how to avoid them, spot them, and protect yourself against them.
Universal Credit – Roadshows
BDA (NI) has received funding from Department for Communities for 6 road shows across Northern Ireland to explain Universal Credit.
Welfare Reform – Interpreter Provision
BDA (NI) have some good news we would like to share with members of the Deaf community. Deaf people will be able to go to their local Advice NI or CAB office and request Interpretation services for support with Welfare Reform related issues, such as PIP and Universal Credit

BDA Northern Ireland’s Access to Justice team have organised a tour of Belfast Laganside court room. Come along and find out about the different processes used in a court setting. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions and find out about the different roles of the court.
