Katie Mowat from BDA Scotland met with Lorna Stevenson and Juliet MacKellaig from Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) on the 27th of July 2015.
The aim of this meeting was to continue the work of “Tackling Barriers” team. Katie has previously worked with the team creating BSL scripts for stroke to ensure the deaf community have equality of access.
The meeting focused on the next phase in the collaboration, to look at creating materials on COPD for the BDA website and for how existing materials currently created for CHSS can be adapted to suit the needs of the deaf community.
BDA Scotland have offered BSL / Deaf Awareness training for CHSS staff and it is hoped this will be the start of a long lasting partnership between the two charities.
