BSL users attended a Scottish Parliament meeting with Dr Alasdair Allan the Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland¹s Languages and Hilary Third, Scottish Government for informal discussions about the BSL (Scotland) Bill.
Hilary Third specifically asked BDA’s Community Advocacy & Development Officer, Avril Hepner to invite four BSL users from the Deaf community to meet Dr Allan.
Hepner said: “Dr Allan was keen to find out more about the Deaf community’s views about the contents of the Bill. This shows how BDA Scotland are actively engaging and empowering Deaf people to take part of the discussion with the Bill. BDA is fully committed to this process and to giving all Deaf people a voice.”
