My role is Advocacy coordinator. BDA Wales successful achieved grant from the Big Lottery. This lottery is covered for three years.
Through the lottery, BDA Wales have three posts
- 1 Advocacy Coordinator
- 2 Advocacy Officers
Their posts will cover West, East and Central Wales
Advocates will introduce to themselves.
RACHEL:
Hello! My name is Rachel. I am one of the advocacy officers based here in South, East and West Wales.
One of our roles can include tasks such as meeting up with Deaf people to ask them what support they need. Another can be working with service providers such as police forces, councils, health boards and consulting with them.
FIONA:
My name is Fiona. Our job involves numerous things which can include personal advocacy where we support you to be independent if you are experiencing problems. Maybe, you are wanting to learn new information we can train you through providing information sessions.

BDA Wales has been successful in securing a grant from the Big Lottery to support its Advocacy service across the country.
The funding will support the project for three years and maintain a three person team, made up of a Coordinator and two Advocacy Officers covering West, East and Central Wales.
