The Education and Culture Committee has today published it’s Stage 1 Report on the British Sign Language (Scotland) Bill – click here.
A video is also available of Convener Stewart Maxwell MSP reflecting on the Committee’s report findings:
BDA Scotland warmly welcomes the Scottish Parliament Education and Culture Committee’s report that recommends the Scottish Parliament pass the BSL (Scotland) Bill.
Avril Hepner, BDA Scotland spokesperson, said “We are very pleased to see this positive report from the Education and Culture Committee. The next step is to make sure that the Scottish Parliament passes the Bill. It is very important for the Scottish Deaf and BSL communities to work with the Scottish Government and public authorities to find ways of improving access and inclusion for Deaf people. This is critical for deaf children using BSL and older Deaf people getting fair access and support.”
