Hello, I’m James from DRP Scotland.
Do you remember the video when I told you about the Jock Young Award?
Well, we have an announcement.
We received quite a number of nominations which were reviewed by a panel.
The nominees are all inspiring role models for Deaf young people across Scotland.
However, despite the tough deliberations about the nominations, we can only choose one from all the nominations for the Jock Young Award.
The winner is:
Olivia Preston
We decided to award to Olivia because of her sporting participation in her local area, across the country and internationally in tournaments, especially being selected for Great Britain ladies’ football team in the Deaflympics. We also acknowledge that she fundraised for charities including doing the Rickshaw Challenge, where she cycled from Scotland to London.
She was nominated for her sporting participation, but we feel that she is a fantastic role model who deserved the Jock Young Award.
Quite amazing and a great role model. Congratulations to Olivia for winning the Jock Young Award.
However, we would like to thank all the people who nominated young people for the Jock Young Award. We are proud of these nominees because they are wonderful role models for Deaf young people across Scotland. We would like to encourage them to try again next time; one of them might go on to become a winner. Well done to all the nominees.
Thank you for watching.
